#About WHCN
Empowering Women. Transforming Spaces.
The Women in Housing and Construction Network (WHCN) is a nonprofit organization committed to advancing the inclusion, empowerment, and recognition of women in the built environment. We exist to bridge gender gaps in housing and construction by creating opportunities for leadership, technical participation, entrepreneurship, and social impact.
Beyond advocacy, we provide practical support for widows, displaced women, and female students through housing, shelter, and educational sponsorships. By combining policy engagement, capacity building, innovation, and collaboration, we are building a more inclusive and sustainable future where women are not just participants, but leaders and change-makers in housing and Construction

What We Do
Advocacy & Policy Engagement
We champion gender equity and push for policies that promote the inclusion of women in leadership, technical, and business roles within the built environment. We also engage with government and industry stakeholders to drive gender-responsive housing and construction policies.
Capacity Building & Educational Support
Through mentorship, workshops, and skills training, we empower women at every level. We also provide sponsorship for female students and women in vocational training, covering school fees and learning costs to help them succeed.
Housing, Shelter & Well-being
We support housing initiatives for widows and create safe shelters for displaced women and children, ensuring dignity, stability, and protection in times of vulnerability.
Economic Empowerment & Entrepreneurship
We promote women-led enterprises within the housing and construction value chain by creating access to funding, cooperative savings, and market opportunities for female entrepreneurs.

Research, Innovation & Sustainability
We conduct studies to highlight gender gaps and emerging opportunities in the sector. We also promote affordable, eco-friendly, and climate-resilient housing solutions while training women in innovative construction technologies.
Networking, Collaboration & Recognition
Our events, conferences, and forums bring together diverse voices to share knowledge, build partnerships, and amplify female-led initiatives. Through our annual Women in Housing & Construction Awards, we celebrate excellence, resilience, and trailblazing contributions by women in the sector.
